If It's All the Same to You
Words and Music by Tom May

(Originally released on the Vignette album. Open Spaces, Prairie Winds (out of print) 1987)

If it’s all the same to you, I’ll leave now while I can
Miss most of the traffic, hit Kansas City about 10
I know it’s hard to understand, the reasons for goodbye
But what we don’t know won’t hurt us
So it’s better left this way
now…

The way I’ve come to see you, it can’t be defined or phrased
Or simply written out in a lovers poem
Or packaged up in paperback, or carefully carved in stone
So even though you love me, let’s leave well enough alone

If it’s all the same to you, I’ll write you when I can
Let you know the latest news and when I’ll be back again
I know it’s tough to wait ‘til then
But it’s the best that I can do Now the same sky smiles upon us as I write these words for you

The way I’ve come to see you, it can’t be defined or phrased
Or simply written out in a lovers poem
Or packaged up in paperback, or carefully carved in stone
So even though I love you, let’s leave well enough alone

If it’s all the same to you, I’ve never felt this way
Like a tongue tied wanderin’ minstrel who’s unsure of what to say
So without another word, I’ll leave here as before
Wonderin’ if this is worth it, as I close another door
Now….

The way I’ve come to see you, it can’t be defined or phrased
Or simply written out in a lovers poem
Or packaged up in paperback, or carefully carved in stone
So even though you love me, let’s leave well enough alone
